"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look. It is that time of year where Samsung is launching brand new flips and folds and watches and it is very exciting because Samsung usually, while they can in between product years stay a little bit conservative with the amount of changes they bring, sometimes there are major leaps and bounds and they are one of the few competitors in the Android space that tend to push the envelope just a little bit. That is not what is happening with the C-Flip 8. It is one of those years where they are refining their approach rather than offering something quintessentially new, but that does not mean that you should write it off completely because those refinements are, well, they make for a very, very cohesive and attractive package, even if, due to the rampocalypse we're a part of right now, is consistently raising its prices if not much just by a little bit and where you would think that some prices might come down particularly in foldables which started being these like hero products that were very very prohibitively expensive we would have expected prices to come down but of course that cannot happen and that is not actually Samsung's fault to some degree at the very least. Now, this little package here has grown a lot over the last couple of years. It weighs 108 grams, it has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, a fully matte aluminum frame, and when you pick this up now, it does not feel flimsy, it does not feel like a test bed product, it feels totally refined, ready for the rough and tumble world that you take it into, even if it is a foldable. Now, obviously, there is still a failure rate, but as far as I can tell, the failure rate isn't any higher than any standard phone, meaning that we've gotten to the point where you can easily just buy a flip for the world in which you take your phone out into. even greater still for a foldable like this because this smaller display can be used now for almost anything that you would use your phone for in line with Motorola's RAZR series. And that means that you can save the larger foldable display inside. That saves battery but also it protects that display when you're not using it. So there is a little bit of a hint there. Now we have two displays obviously as we have with most foldables so this big one right here is an LTPO AMOLED 2X at 120 hertz with HDR10 plus supported that can reach up to 2600 nits at 6.9 inches and at a resolution of 1080 by I believe it's 2520."
"So not a lot of advances there, but still perfectly saturated, color calibrated and usable displays that can transcend any summer sun and be used without any problem to battery life now, because these phones tend to go more than all day now. Outside here we have a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display, which will do a bit higher on the Nitspeak brightness, but again, as I said, the big news here is what you can do out here. Where first Samsung employed a prohibitively, let's say, limited strategy, now anything goes here. Calls, texts, apps, anything that you want to do. Do you want to navigate? Do you want to listen to Spotify? Do you want to play Pokemon trading card game Pocket? Anything goes out here. And that means that you're only using a 4.1 inch display most of the time, again, which will save battery life. You can open up to 6.9 inches whenever it is that you want. Now in some regions you get the Exynos 2600 and in others you'll get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 but you'll get 12 gigs of RAM and you can get either 256 gigs or 512 gigs of UFS 4.0 or 4.1, can't remember, storage."
"Now there are two camera lenses out here same as we've been used to but this is a 50 megapixel 23 millimeter standard wide with OIS alongside a 12 megapixel 120 degree ultra wide. Now I personally think that the time has come for the Flip family to evolve ever so slightly because who says that a camera-centric lifestyle phone like this doesn't deserve a telephoto? Why isn't there three lenses out here? And I would also ask Samsung, even though you could do a lot with post-processing and AI these days, I would urge them go a little bit wider than 123 degrees and go a little bit higher than 12 megapixels. Give us a 50 megapixel ultrawide, which can do the dance with the standard wide. I think that would be very well received from the fan base that purchased this phone."
"The one thing where I do think that it falls down is charging speed. You get 4,300 mAh inside as a battery and that's plenty enough actually, but you get 25W wired charging and only 15W worth of wireless charging.
I think you can up that. Samsung, in general, needs to offer faster charging options because it just fits the style of this. You only have a brief moment in time in between top ups, either to put it on a wireless charging pad or plug a cable into it. And in that time, you should get some juice.
