We spoke with Ary Chen, game director of Tides of Annihilation and the co-CEO of Eclipse Glow Games, all to learn more about this anticipated and ambitious action-adventure game overflowing with Arthurian legend.
"I'm currently here with one of the members of the development team to talk a little bit about it. I know this is very ad hoc, but you guys just won an award, right? What was that like and how does that make you feel? So right now it's still in the nomination stage. Back to the game, back to the game. We saw it last year, we're seeing it more and more, it's getting closer to the release. How are people starting to continue to embrace Tides of Annihilation and how are you continuously looking to evolve and iterate and improve the game as development progresses? Right now, the purpose of the offline hands-on demo is that we can gather the feedback from our fans, from the players, for example, to really get to know their opinions about the combat system, our protagonists, and so that we take back their feedback and to further refine and iterate our game development. And we look forward to delivering the best experience to the players. Now, obviously it makes sense for me to ask this question, but the game itself is set in London. What made you choose that city as the place to base this story around? So at the start of our project, we have come up with a combat system first, and also the idea of fighting alongside the knights. And after we do our research, we found that King Arthur Legend fits perfectly to our combat system because there are so many knights in King Arthur. And we also want to bring something different, so that's why we want to blend the modern London with the legend. And we know that London is the capital of the UK and the birthplace of the King Arthur legend is from the UK. Obviously it's a Chinese developed game. And we're seeing an increased amount of Chinese developed games breaking into the wider game industry. And fans are growing to really love these types of games from the Chinese region. So what do you think it is that makes these games so popular? And why do you think Tides of Annihilation is going to be the next major hit? So we don't really see the production having to come from China or a specific country. Because in our developing team, we are all fans of the classic action-adventure games, whether it's from Japan, US, or UK. And we are all just big fans of those classic titles. And we see ourselves as stepping on the shoulders of those giants. As a final question, We've got to talk about it. When the game was originally announced, you had Jennifer English as the lead actress. And since then, Jennifer stepped away. And you brought on Angela Santobano. So tell me, what does she bring to the role? And how will her presence continue to evolve your main character? So we fully respect Jennifer's decision to prioritize her health, but she's continuously supporting us, including finding the successor. And we think that Angela's performance has been nothing but phenomenal, as the players can see already themselves in the demo. And just as a final thing, Tides of Annihilation, when can we expect it? What platforms?
So the exact launch date we cannot share just yet, but please stay tuned and as for the launch platform, there will be on PC, PS5 and Xbox. Thank you so much. For more Tides of Annihilation, stay tuned to your local Gamereactor agency."
