Yes, you read it right, this is a news piece about a fish playing Pokémon Red. The fish in question provides its inputs by swimming over sections of a 3x3 grid, whereby a camera registers its particular movements and interprets them into the game. You can watch the excitement for yourselves over at this Twitch feed.

The fish - called Grayson Hopper - is acting on behalf of two developers from the HackNY Fellows Class of 2014 (Catherine Moresco and Patrick Facherous), and at the time of writing has more than 20k concurrent viewers.

Why anyone would do this is completely beyond us, but it's crazy world full of crazy people. Perhaps the most hilarious part of this whole scenario? The commentators in the chat calling the fish a noob and criticising his moves. Let's hope that those who are doing so are dabbling with irony, for their sakes.
