We sample Instant Action in Star Wars: Battlefront II

The popular game mode is returning next month, and we got to try it early when we visited EA in Cologne during Gamescom.

Instant Action is a game mode that veteran Star Wars: Battlefront fans will be familiar with, since it let you jump into customisable offline battles in the original games, although was absent from the return of the series when that landed in 2015.

As revealed in a recent roadmap though, this is returning to Star Wars Battlefront II in September's update, and EA actually let us sample this during Gamescom this year, trying out the action of Geonosis.

Below you can see how we got on, and at Gamescom we also spoke with creative director Dennis Brännvall, who informed us that the team is "not ruling out" incorporating content from Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order into their game.

Do you remember Instant Action fondly?

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It never gets boring watching Yoda rip through enemy lines with his lightning-quick lightsaber (as long as he's on your side, of course)."
