West Ham signs pro FIFA player

Premier League football team, West Ham United, have become the first team to sign their own esports player in the Premiership. Sean 'Dragonn' Allen joined the team officially today, having been given the squad number 50.

Allen streams FIFA regularly on Twitch, and will be competing in the Gfinity Arena in Fulham tomorrow, for the Grand Final of the Play Like A Legend tournament. This will be his first appearance as a West Ham player.

"This is a massive move forward for me." Allen has said in a statement from the club. "I have been playing competitive FIFA for a very long time and this is the biggest thing ever to happen to me. West Ham has had an astonishing season in the Premier League with Europe looking very likely for next season. I will be doing my very best in FIFA tournaments all around the world to emulate their success."

This is not the first time an esports player has been picked up by a big name football team. Back in February, German club Wolfsburg signed a 22-year-old Englishman, David Bytheway, as their official FIFA player.
